Looking back on the last year I have been contacted by quite a number of ex-colleagues who were in the process of leaving banking and considering their options for the next stage of their career.
They typically are in a similar position that I was in five years ago and it has been great to catch-up and hopefully provide a few gems of insight from my own situation. I’ve certainly learnt a few lessons along the way!
One thing I feel strongly about is that too many business owners place their faith in people who do not have the longevity of a career with direct exposure to helping companies, presenting cases to credit committees, taking decisions on loan approvals…and basically being able to give the degree of professional guidance that business owners deserve.
That is why I am always pleased to see that the pool of board advisors is continually being topped up with quality individuals who have that important ingredient….experience!
